About Us
We are Roland and Bianca an upcoming and passionate blues (and swing) duo from Zürich. We are teaching together both locally in Switzerland and at international events. We are in love with blues and regularly travel to local and regional events to dance, compete and teach!
Bianca
Bianca has more than 15 years of experience in different dance styles, from modern, to contemporary, ballet or hip hop. Somewhat a shy and introverted person in life, she found a way to fully express herself in dancing. It’s in 2016 that she then discovered – and became addicted to – swing and blues dancing, starting to travel to festivals all over Europe and, shortly afterwards, to teach.
In her solo dancing, she always finds new ways of expressing different aspects of the music, from complex rhythms to riffs and melody – “keeping it simple” is not her thing. She challenges herself to keep this also in partnered dancing, and to subtly influencing the partnership dynamic without disrupting it.
She teaches to share with as many people as possible that sense of community and love for the music that got her addicted to blues. She never misses a chance to learn more and share in her classes anecdotes on the history and culture at the heart of this dance. And, last but not least, she will always encourage you to bring out your coolness and find the self-confidence to fully believe in your own dancing.
Roland
Roland only discovered dancing as an adult, but once he got a bite he couldn’t stop himself. He has now been an active Swing and Blues dancer for more than 10 years and traveled to festivals all around the world. In his spare time he likes to try other dance styles, such as tap, hip hop, house or salsa.
For him, partner dancing is like a conversation between two persons but based on the common alphabet of music and the grammatical rules of body movement. He’ll teach you all there is to know about leading, following and the many ways of sharing movements with your partner.
Roland loves to DJ and find new music to play for you. From the slow and melancholic jazzy blues of Bessie Smith to the electric blues of John Lee Hooker all the way to the soul songs of Otis Redding of the 60’, be ready to be challenged and learn how to best dance to all the different styles and tempos that Blues has to offer.
